Some of My Favourite Moments on your Wedding Day

A wedding day is filled with emotion, quiet moments, and big celebrations that all blend together into something unforgettable. From the anticipation in the morning to the energy on the dance floor, every part of the day tells a story. My purpose is always to capture your day as it naturally unfolds—so when you look back, you don’t just see the moment, you feel it.

There are so many meaningful moments woven throughout a wedding day. While many are shared with the people around you, there are always those quieter, fleeting snippets that take you back to exactly how it all felt.

The way the sun lit up the garden during your first look.
The slice of cake you shared together, tucked away in a small moment of calm.
The clear blue skies that felt like absolute perfection.

These are the moments you might not fully notice as they’re happening—but when you look back at your photos, they bring those feelings rushing back in the most beautiful way.
At the heart of it all is your love for one another, and the people who gathered to celebrate alongside you. A wedding day is filled with unforgettable moments—the first look, the ceremony, the vows—but just as meaningful are the in-between moments. The ones that unfold naturally, when there’s space to slow down and simply be present. That’s where so much of the magic lives.

As you continue reading, I’m sharing some of my favourite parts of a wedding day. Not the only ones, of course—but the ones that hold so much emotion, and the ones I find myself drawn to capturing, time and time again.

Getting Ready

This part of the day carries such an exciting, almost electric energy. It’s where everything begins to build—excitement, nerves, anticipation—all quietly weaving together as the day starts to unfold. You’re surrounded by your closest people, sharing laughter and dances, maybe a few happy tears, and slowly soaking in the reality of what this day is all about.

There’s a softness to these moments. The quiet in-between pauses while music plays in the background, the final touches as everything comes together, the way time seems to move both quickly and slowly all at once. Maybe it’s reading a letter from your partner, your hands trembling just a little as you take in every word. Maybe it’s a first look with a parent or a close friend—the kind of moment that feels both grounding and overwhelming in the best way. These are the memories that often become some of the most cherished.

Then something shifts and it all leads up to that moment when you are finally ready to see your partner.

First Look

Whether it’s planned for before the ceremony in a quiet, tucked-away moment or happens naturally as you walk down the aisle, this moment is incredibly personal. It’s just the two of you, seeing each other for the very first time on your wedding day.
Everything else seems to fade for a second. The noise, the people, the anticipation—it all softens as you take each other in. A reminder of what the day is truly about.

The reactions are always real—sometimes tears, sometimes laughter, often a mix of both. It’s completely your own. The way you look at each other, the way you move a little closer without even thinking… it’s a kind of connection that that can’t be staged.

It’s one of those feelings—one of those memories—that stays with you long after the day is over.

Sharing your Vows

Another moment that stands out to me is when my couples share their vows. Whether shared privately or during the ceremony, they hold so much meaning. It’s where everything seems to slow down for a moment, and the outside world fades away as you focus entirely on each other.

You get to express your promises, your hopes, and everything that’s brought you to this point. There’s something so powerful about capturing those genuine, unscripted emotions—the quiet smiles, the shaky voices, the tears, and the laughter—as they naturally unfold.

A Quiet Moment at Sunset

As the day continues, sunset often brings a chance to pause.
Stepping away for a few moments together allows you to breathe, take it all in, and just be present with each other. The light turns soft and golden, wrapping everything in a warm glow, and the pace of the day slows down. It’s a chance to reconnect, holding hands, sharing a quiet laugh, or simply soaking in the fact that you’re finally married. This time turns the feeling softer and more intimate, where you can reflect on everything that’s just happened and have a chance to talk about details or moments you might have missed in the rush of the day.

It becomes a moment to fully exhale, to be present without distraction, and to let everything sink in. A quiet pause that lets you breathe deeply and soak in the calm before returning to the celebration with your friends and family.

Dance the Night Away

And then the evening continues into toasts and dancing—full of stories, laughter, and sometimes a few happy tears. The speeches often turn into storytelling moments, where your closest people revisit memories from the past, share funny mishaps, and reflect on how your journey led you here. It’s equal parts heartfelt and hilarious, with the kind of laughter that spreads through the room and soft pauses where everyone gets a little emotional together.

As the music kicks in, the night shifts from storytelling to party! The dance floor becomes a place where you let loose, kick off your shoes, loosen your ties and begin to celebrate in a carefree way with a mix of joy, chaos and connection! It’s the kind of night where you lose track of time completely, dancing the night away surrounded by the people you love most.

At the end of it all, it’s these moments—both big and small—that come together to tell the full story of your wedding day. The in-between glances, the deep breaths, the laughter, the impromptu toasts, the tears, they’re what make your day truly yours, and what make those memories last a lifetime.

Capturing your wedding day is a privilege for me. I am there to capture what means the most to you, what you want and what your priorities are. We can work together to make sure nothing is left behind but ultimately I want to hear from you about what your desires are for your wedding day and that is what I will aim to document to last forever! Let’s create some magic!
